India’s first Peace Pole launched in 2012 by Rotary International 3131

One behalf of the Council of Presidents (COP) 2012-13 of Rotary International District

3131 India’s first International Peace PoleTM was unveiled at the District Governor’s

installation on 1st July 2012 by the then Dist. Governor Rtn. Dr. Girish Gune in

presence of Rotary International Director. There were two Peace Poles made in 6

International languages and 2 vernacular languages viz. Japanese, French, German,

Spanish, Urdu & English besides Hindi & Marathi.

The German Bakery was subject to bomb blast in 2010, hence the peace pole was first

set up there and apt to spread the message. We will dedicate to those who lost their

lives.

The second Peace Pole was spread at the Sadhu Vaswani International Mission. Dada

Vaswani initiated a global peace initiative called ‘The Moment of Calm’.

These Peace Poles continue to attract Indian and International visitors.
